If you prefer an intimate wedding ceremony in NYC, doing it at city hall might just be the best option. Getting married at NYC City Hall is the least expensive, with no fuss, and can provide the best backdrop for your wedding photos! Also, you can make your big day memorable by personalizing it in many creative ways. With that being said, we’re giving you five ideas for a personalized city hall wedding.

1. DIY Flowers

It’s good to know that you can purchase flowers inside NYC City Hall, although it’s more expensive than that of a local florist. There’s also a man selling flowers just outside the building. It’s the least costly option. Or you can actually get creative and do it yourself! Go and shop for flowers at NYC’s floral district and arrange your own wedding bouquet. Nothing beats the satisfaction of creating your masterpiece and capturing it in a photo to remember for a lifetime.

2. Wear your dream designer dress

Just because you’re not having a traditional wedding doesn’t mean you have to skip your dream of wearing a couture gown by your favorite designer. No one’s stopping you, so go ahead and enter that building in your dream dress. And you’re sure to get classic photos with that dress against a beautiful architectural backdrop. What a fantastic way to have a personalized city hall wedding!

3. Create Written Vows

Although you are not allowed to exchange vows at the actual ceremony, you can still do it in private. This will make for a more intimate vow exchange. Write your personal vow on unique stationery and design it on your own. Or you can ask a calligrapher to do it for you. Either way, an intimate vow written on a piece of paper is something you can look back to as a reminder of your commitment and love.

4. Take Photos in NYC’s Iconic Places

After getting married, have your photographer take photos of you at NYC’s iconic places. You can try Tribeca, Brooklyn Bridge, Dumbo, and the subway! You can’t really do this if you’re having a traditional wedding, can you? So having portraits at your favorite places is really a great way to have a personalized city hall wedding.

5. Ride Away in a Vintage Checker Cab

As your getaway car, book a famous New York Checker Cab! When you book one for your wedding, it usually comes with white ribbons, but design it as you wish and level up your just-married moment. It will make for a uniquely NYC photo opp too!

No matter how you want to celebrate your big day, it’s essential to focus on what matters most to you. Your wedding day should reflect your unique personality as a couple. After all, it is the most important milestone in your married life.
