A Quarantine Engagement

Hope and John are such a sweet and fun couple! The two have been together for five years and got engaged this year while in quarantine. They originally met at Boston College, thanks to a mutual friend. John was two years older, so until they were introduced, they never actually met in person. When Hope got into medical school, one of her girlfriends had a new boyfriend with a cute friend. After that date, they both agreed that sparks were flying. “We both specifically remember meeting each other while out with friends and going home, hoping to see one another again.” A few group nights out later, and here they are, ready to spend forever together!

John knew he wanted to propose to Hope in 2020 and began the process at the beginning of the year. He initially planned to get the ring in March and propose a few weeks later somewhere out in the city. After Hope said yes, they would have an engagement celebration with family and friends. As you guessed, COVID19 had other plans. With the lockdown that followed, the ring was stuck in its own form of lockdown too! John had to come up with a change of plans. He was finally able to pick up the engagement ring in June and planned to pop the question at home shortly after.

Popping the Question, Quarantine Style

A couple of days later, while Hope was working in pediatrics, John got to work. He ran out and bought a ton of flowers and set up champagne. John took the time to string up lights, light candles, the whole shebang! He even thought to set up his phone to record the beautiful and private moment. Looking back, this was better than what he’d originally planned.

“This ended up being even better than I expected because I was truly surprised! I had no idea it was coming since everything felt so up in the air.”

During our engagement session, the three of us took advantage of the gorgeous fall weather we’ve been having in New York City. We spent the morning walking through Central Park, taking in the crisp fall leaves, and then headed to the West Village. John and Hope love to enjoy all that New York City has to offer. When they’re not hanging out at home, relaxing and watching Netflix, they love to eat out. These two have the best taste in dining, which is why I wasn’t surprised to find learn they’re hosting their wedding at Bryant Park Grill! If you haven’t had the chance to sit under the Bryan Park patio lights, I highly suggest it. If not, stay tuned for October 2021 to see Hope and John’s gorgeous wedding!
