Couple K + D had a surprise proposal in February 2021, when I had the privilege of photographing their engagement session in New York City. A little bit about them – they both work at Google! And they are a very chic and stylish couple, which shows in their fashionable outfits!
We started the session on the steps of Bethesda Terrace, where they wore Bridgerton-inspired clothing. K’s spaghetti strap dress with tiered skirt and fur coat and D’s brown monotone coat, pants, and leather shoes blended well with the 18th-century architecture. Indeed, they had a very quintessential editorial winter engagement. It was a very “old world” look at Central Park, translating into a classic, ethereal feel.
Afterward, we took a cab down to Central Park South. The sun had set, and the only lights around us were the NYC city street lights! It was so refreshing to shoot an engagement session at night! The engaged couple glammed up their look into a modern, city-chic look. K was wearing high heels and a high-slit dress while M was in a suit with sneakers. And with sunglasses (at night) while crossing the street, K + D nailed it! We photographed along the streets and sidewalks in front of The Plaza Hotel and Bergdorf Goodman. The Plaza Hotel has evolved since its construction way back in 1883. The hotel was continually restored over the years, but only one thing remained the same — its image of luxury and elegance. If you could remember the movie “Home Alone 2”, this was the hotel where the kid named “Kevin” checked in on his own and enjoyed every minute of it! On the other hand, Bergdorf Goodman is an iconic luxury department store carrying designer clothing and merchandise. Needless to say, the engaged couple perfectly matched these high-end backgrounds.
