This beautiful wedding is yet again another intimate micro wedding made possible by a worldwide pandemic. You know what? At this point, I am loving seeing all of these beautiful success stories. People have been pushed out of their comfort zone, and honestly, so many of my couples have confided in me that they are actually relieved they had a 20 person wedding instead of 200!
An Intimate Micro Wedding
Caitlin and George’s wedding was exactly that. The original wedding plan was to have the ceremony at St.Patrick’s Cathedral. Their reception was slotted to entertain a whopping 250+ guests at the Rainbow Room in NYC (George and Caitlin both have huge families). Their first wedding was originally booked for November 14th, 2020. They then decided to postpone to May 1st, 2021. Caitlin recalls that in early August, the two woke up one morning and just looked at each other and said, “Should we wait until May?” With such uncertainty around events of that size, even in 2021, they decided to do something small.
Finding Comfort in Blue Hill at Stone Barns
After some research, Caitlin and George found they could still get married at the Lady Chapel at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which was really special. Caitlin looked at Blue Hill with her sister earlier this year. She and her sister instantly fell in love with the picnic theme and intimate dinner party vibes. It was an easy choice because everyone raves about the food at Blue Hill, which was important to the couple. After finding Blue Hill at Stone Barns, the planning process went quickly. With most of these micro weddings, the hardest part is trying to lock down a date that works with your various vendors. Not to mention ensuring that your select few family and friends can make it!
Caitlin’s vision for their new intimate micro wedding was a mix of modern and rustic. Luckily, since they had the city ceremony and the barn reception, the modern and rustic feeling was achieved! Caitlin wanted bright and colorful flowers. Her florist Jerry from MrBokay made everything exactly as she’d pictured, but better! When the newlyweds walked out of St. Patrick’s Cathedral they had the NYPD Emerald Society play bagpipes. There was a crowd of people watching; Caitlin and George felt like such celebrities. It was so cool and unique!
